Your situation
Belgian actuarial convention. The annual rate is converted into the equivalent monthly rate —(1 + rate)1/12 − 1 — as for mortgage loans in Belgium.
Indicative estimate. Constant monthly repayments, excluding outstanding balance insurance, home insurance, arrangement fees and notary fees. The monthly rate is the rate equivalent to the annual rate (Belgian actuarial convention).
Benchmarks for your project
Most banks cap the repayment burden at roughly one third of the household's net income. Indicative benchmark — each bank applies its own criteria.
Total amount repaid for every euro borrowed, interest included, over the whole term.
Share of your repayments that goes to interest in the first year. It falls every month in favour of the principal.
To budget on top of the loan: the notary fees (registration duties, notary's fee — see the notary fees calculator), the outstanding balance insurance required by most banks, home insurance and any arrangement fees. The bank generally asks for own funds — count on 10 % of the price if you live in the property, 20 % for a rental.
